- Quilt Tops
Please press your quilt top and iron all of the seams open, if possible. It is important that you square the quilt top before sending it to us. That means all of the sides must be even and the corners form right angles. If you need help squaring your quilt, please use the contact form or call us and we will be glad to help you. It is not necessary to baste or pin your quilt.
- Backing
Please send backing that is at least six inches larger, on all four sides, than the quilt top. Our machine likes nice fabric used for quilt backing – no bed sheets, please. Extra wide fabrics are sold at quilt shops that are specifically used for backing, and they are quick and easy to use. The backing also needs to be squared. Just contact us if you need help preparing your backing.
- Batting
You may provide batting, if you’d like, or we can provide it for less than you would pay in the store. We use Quilters Dream Select Mid-Loft Cotton, but can get other Quilters Dream batting in a few days. If you prefer a polyester batting, we can provide Quilters Dream Poly or you may purchase one of equal quality.
- Binding
You are welcome to send us your prepared binding and we will either machine stitch it on just the front side or machine stitch it on both sides so you have a finished quilt. We do not hand stitch the binding. Standard widths of binding are 2.25 inches or 2.50 inches. Our preference is 2 inches or 2.25 inches.
- Thread
We use Superior Threads on top and in the bobbin. Our standard thread is 40 weight Magnifico Polyester thread by Superior Threads. If you would like a particular color, please use the contact form or call us to tell us your choice. If you like using variegated threads, we use King Tut 40 weight all cotton thread.
- Quilt Design
You may choose a design or quilt pattern from the ones shown on the Quilt Pattern Page. Or we would be glad to send you a PDF Catalog of all available designs – just contact us via the contact form for the catalog. There are edge to edge designs which give an all-over pattern plus we have 200+ available quilting designs from which to choose. They also include blocks, borders, corners, and triangles which would be considered custom quilting.
- Quilting Pricing
Our quilting charge is .0215 cents per square inch for edge to edge patterns and .050+ cents per square inch for custom patterns. Please take the measurement of the width of your quilt top times the measurement of the length of your quilt top, then multiply those numbers to get the square inches of your quilt top. Then multiply that number times either .015 or .020 and you will know the price of quilting your quilt. The cost of the batting and the fee for binding will be an additional charge. Also if you would like us to prepare your backing, or square your quilt, or cut and prepare your binding, we would be happy to do so, but at a slight cost.

- Misc.
We ask that you send us items to quilt that are free of thread pieces and pet hairs, and with all of the seams sewn securely closed. If we find, when we receive your quilt, that we have some of these things to correct, we will let you know, and we’ll work together.
